Household Hazardous Waste Collection
Many common products used around the home may be hazardous and should be disposed of properly. Items such as paint, fertilizer, propane tanks and batteries, can all be harmful to the environment, wildlife, and sanitation workers. Proper disposal helps prevent accidental poisoning and even fire hazards in the home.
Highlands Ranch Water is a sponsor of the Douglas County Health Household Hazardous Waste Collection program. As stewards of our environment, Highlands Ranch Water wants to help protect the public health of our community which includes protection of our source water. Customers should avoid pouring household pollutants down the drain or putting them out with the trash and utilize the collection program set up through Douglas County Health.
What is the collection program?
Douglas Health is partnering with Waste Management to provide an At Your Door Collection service. Waste Management will come to you and pick up unwanted hazardous waste items for safe disposal. Residents can schedule one appointment per calendar year. There is a $30 co-payment fee for the pick-up service.
